The Young Heroes Awards is a Big Blue Box initiative that aims to acknowledge and celebrate young people in regional areas. Creating something that is accessible and attainable and giving us the opportunity to recognise the achievements of young people on a local basis. Partnering with Bristol Churches Together, schools, youth workers, charities and local businesses we hope to bring the community together to celebrating young people who make a difference or who have made achievements beyond their circumstances. The awards will be an annual event.
We are aiming at regular young people, not necessarily high achievers, and want to highlight the positive things they have done to encourage and inspire others. Especially in the light of past riots and current high unemployment and youth associated crimes. We want these young people to feel special on the evening of the awards and to feel appreciated and acknowledged.
The Bristol Young Heroes Awards 2014 is a Gala Dinner event to celebrate our local young people who have inspired and achieved great things. We want to encourage them to be the best that they can be and acknowledge their achievements in overcoming difficult circumstances, or making a difference in the lives of others. We will be opening the awards to anyone aged 11 – 19, then choosing 3 young people as nominees for each of the 10 award categories to attend the event, with the winners being announced on the night of Friday 28th March 2014 at The Grand, Thistle Hotel Bristol.
