Together4Bristol Prayer Update: Summer 2017
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
Praise Items
1. We thank God for the growing unity that is evident among church leaders across the Bristol region. Our church leaders had their fourth Together4Bristol prayer breakfast, with 100 church leaders present at St Stephens Church. The Mayor, Marvin Rees, encouraged and challenged the Christian community.
2. Bristol Turning – there were 658 decisions made by people to follow Christ during the two weeks of the Bristol Turning evangelistic campaigns - follow up and further outreaches are ongoing (see here).
3. Bristol Noise continues to grow every year and this year the south of Bristol was included for the first time. Over 860 volunteers participated over the weekend of Early May bank holiday. For more info click here: www.thenoise.org.uk
4. Bristol Healing Rooms continues to grow and see many healings and salvations. They meet every Wednesday at City Road Baptist Church (and often at the Bear Pit beforehand). For more info click bristolhealingrooms.com
5.The Lighthouse barge for the Upper Reaches has arrived in Temple Quay and is ready to be used for prayer in the heart of the City's Business District. The recent annual visit of the South Korean prayer team set time aside to pray on the barge. For more info click: upperreaches.org.uk
6.The Bristol Winter Night Shelter pilot scheme aimed at the homeless was a great success. It ran for 4 weeks (see here).
7.The recent launch of the Christian Action Bristol website (the Politics and Social Action sphere of Together4Bristol), which explains many different ways in which the Christian community is involved in social action: www.christianactionbristol.org.uk
Prayer Items
1. Pray for Avon & Somerset Police as they tackle crime in the region. Pray for the cycle of gun and knife culture to be broken (see here).
2. Continue to pray for even more church leaders to join the prayer breakfast meetings being held 7-8:30am every first Tuesday of the month at St Stephens Church.
3. Prayer for progress for "Offers" from the Christian community which have been made to the Mayor's City Office, for example the Homelessness and Breakfast Club ‘Offers’. These included the Churches Winter Night Shelter project in January / February, and contributing to breakfast clubs, so that no child goes to school hungry. There are other ‘Offers’ in development around Social Prescribing, Debt Support and Fostering / Adoption.
4. Prayer for Marvin, Tim Bowles (Metro Mayor) and all the civic leaders of our city.
5. Pray for the success of the youth apprenticeship programme being (Bristol Works) carried out by the council under the direction of Claire Hiscott.
6. Pray for the success of Bristol European City of Sport (see here)
7. Pray for Christians from the Bristol region to sign up for Movement Day (see here), a gathering of “unity for mission movements” from towns and cities across the UK, in October. Do tell Roger Allen (enabler.t4b a_t gmail d_o_t com) that you are going, so you can join the group from Bristol.
