Our busy Spring programme is now live on the website. It is particularly exciting to see the opportunities grow as we connect with learning and experience providers around the city. Please do share with us any ideas you have or link us with people it may be good for us to connect with as we build learning opportunities.
For those of you with learners in our creative workshops - we will confirm the schedule and share on Heartbeat - just chasing up a couple of artists! Please sign up to Heartbeat if you have not already done so.

We have some new opportunities to highlight below:

Parent gathering
We have spoken to many of you about creating a space where we can connect as parents. Within this, different parents have offered suggestions about what this could look like, ranging from a social gathering to a more structured ‘decompress from school’ journey.
To kick things off, we would love for you to join us on
Tuesday 6th February at The Artist Residence.
Arrival from 7pm and at 7:30pm a couple of people will share their own stories. We then will discuss what you would like over the months ahead.
Please sign up here (event on Heartbeat) if you plan to come so we have an idea of numbers.

Language Cafe & Duolingo
As you know we have our Language Cafe on a Wednesday morning and are excited to have Martha, one of the students we have been working with us, join the team as an intern from University of Bristol (her full bio will be on our website soon) . She will be working closely with Fabienne as they grow the Cafe, create learning pathways and develop new opportunities.
To start this year they have created a Duolingo Classroom for learners at the Hub (whether attending the Language Cafe or not). If you have a learner who is interested in joining the ‘ Duolingo Hub classroom’ it is a fun way to encourage each other, join the Hub leaderboard and interact with Duolingo through a community. Email Fabienne for more info: hello a_t streamslearninghub d_o_t com.

Pathfinder AI tool
Over the past couple of months we have had some fantastic conversations with Amaan, a software engineer on a mission to enable learning journeys for young people. He has designed a platform called Pathfinder. The idea is a socratic guide to help students with finding the next step on their project. If they need to learn something new, it finds the best resources on the internet for them to learn from and then helps them apply what they’ve learnt into their projects. Watch a demo.
|
As he develops the platform he is actively engaging young people in the iterative design process, a couple of our learners have already trialled it in a session with him. Over the next couple of weeks we will ask some of the learners if they want to give it ago, either in a zoom with Amaan screen sharing (with Jo too) or simply with Jo. Feedback on what works/ doesn’t work will help with further developments. We are hoping to be early adopters of what we think is a fantastic tool for our young people. Stay connected to learn more.

Podcast with Fabienne
As many of you know, Fabienne releases a regular podcast ‘ Flourishing Education’ - this month she has two wonderful new episodes we would encourage you to listen to - one with Tom (her son) and another with Abbie (Caroline’s daughter) - both are great conversations, reminding us again how much we have to learn from our amazing young people.

One final exciting piece of news, we are incredibly fortunate to have Bex Marriot joining us facilitating our creative workshops. Bex was a Design and Technology teacher, ran her own book binding business in Cape Town and is highly creative (her full bio will be on our website soon). We are delighted to have her with us on Mondays and look forward to developing the workshops with her, as well as, other collaborating artists.
