SUMMER FUN AT SPARKS

 

Pop into Sparks Bristol over the summer holidays for family friendly workshops, a wild goose chase, independent shops and inspirational ways to recycle or rework your household items.

 

CRAFT WORKSHOPS

 

Global Goals Centre and Bristol Refugee Artists Collective are holding free Craft Workshops every Friday, 12 - 4pm from the 26th July to the 30th August.

 

Choose between painting, lino printing or card making. All materials are free. Workshops are drop-in, no need to book.

 

WILD GOOSE CHASE

 

During July and August, we are taking part in a Wild Goose Chase to raise money for The Wild Goose - a day centre in Bristol, where people struggling with homelessness can get hot food, clothes, hot showers and more.

To help raise money you can buy a downloadable map and join in the Wild Goose Chase in Bristol. By playing you’ll unlock a secret phrase and your certificate. Find out more on the Inhope website: www.inhope.uk or scan the code in-store.

 

MAKE YOUR DREAM GARMENT

 

Sew Your Own Dream Top is a 3-day workshop for kids from age 9 and up!

 

They’ll learn how to design, some basic hand sewing skills, how to use a sewing machine and how clothes can be embellished through embroidery, appliqué, painting and much more. Using reclaimed fabrics and materials to make the dream top of every child's imagination.

 

REUSE AND RECYCLE ACTIVITIES

 

Every Sunday our repair cafe holds two drop-in repair sessions. Bring along an item you want repaired or, if you have nothing that needs repairing, they have a lovely stash of items that can be reworked, dismantled and re-made, investigated or stripped for materials.

 

Every Thursday Re-thrindle holds garment repair and alteration sessions to help you get more life from your favourite clothes.

There’s also the ever popular ‘smash a CD’ station (pictured) where you can learn about the process of recycling waste metal.

 

KIDS IN SPARKS

 

Explore what free activities are always on offer for kids at Sparks. Take a seat while they drive the bus or chill out together in the Joey pod, play a piano or take a walk through our Nature area and view exhibitions by local community groups.

 

YOUTH DROP-IN SERVICE

 

Every Wednesday, 11 - 6pm from 31st July, Break Down Barriers are holding an educational drop-in service for 16 to 25 year olds.

 

Get guidance from trained professionals offering impartial advice with career and education options. The sessions are designed to help young people explore and access pathways to further education, vocational training or employment opportunities.

Services include support with exam results, job searches, CV writing, and interview skills.

 

SUMMER SHOPPING

 

Sparks hosts over 100 independent, sustainable retailers including a fashion stylist, carpenter, jeweler and a very busy baker!  Take time to browse the aisles and find the perfect gift idea or vintage addition to your summer wardrobe.
