Cards of Kindness - Listening Spaces - Peace Feasts

Dear friends,

The recent violence in towns and cities around the UK has once again highlighted the underlying divisions and tensions present in our communities. Although there is so much good that goes on as well, it's clear that to live well with difference, we need to continue taking intentional steps to bridging these divides.

We highlight below two ways we have responded to the recent tensions and invite you to join us at an upcoming Peace Feast, so you can connect with neighbours from different cultures and backgrounds.

Responding to Tensions by Listening

We hosted two Listening Spaces on the 'Recent Divisions and Tensions around Migration' and were delighted by how people were able to engage and connect with each other.

Thank you to everyone who participated, taking the opportunity to share and, in turn, listen to the thoughts and experiences of others.

We are looking to build on these events by hosting more listening spaces on the same subject in different locations across Bristol. Contact us: if you would like to bring a listening space to your community or join a future event by keeping an eye on our upcoming events.

Cards of Kindness & Solidarity

Thank you to everyone who sent a card to our neighbours seeking sanctuary in Bristol. Over 220 cards were given as a simple and practical way to show kindness and solidarity to people following the violence in August. They were gratefully received.

We also appreciate the notes included from those who wrote cards:

"Thank you for giving me something I can do to support. I feel powerless and scared by what is happening and can only imagine how they must feel."

"This is a great idea, thank you for suggesting it. It feels good to be able to do something practical."
