Sportily Supporters News: The Sports Pages

Thank you for your prayers in support of the ministry of Sportily. Please join us in celebration and prayer at this time around the following points:

From the pitch/court/field

  • Our first Couch to 5K session in Leckhampton took place earlier this week and saw 25 people turn up to give it their best alongside our new coach Katie. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we're looking forward to seeing the group progress over the coming weeks.

  • It was really important to us that we were out in the community for Halloween this year to meet families and young people where they are. We found ourselves in Minchinhampton, various locations around Gloucester, and the Forest of Dean.
In Hunts Grove, Tim and team took Blaze Pods out and set up a fastest reaction game. He shares:

"People came over to chat, grab sweets and glow sticks and carry on their route. Great to be out in the community shining the light of Christ by serving the community with love and kindness."

In the Forest of Dean, Lucy hosted our annual Family Feast Light Party which had a great turn out.
"There was a really lovely feel to the evening; having a selection of indoor and outdoor activities meant that all children and families were catered for. The crafts were enjoyed by adults and children alike. Wonderful to have a family return for the third year. Their children have been counting down the days until today, and they couldn't wait to come and do the tunnelling!"

Up in Minchinhampton, Jo ran a series of Halloween-themed activities at our Fitness Hub.

"We met people where they were in Market Square this Halloween. 100 sweets, tracts, glow sticks and Sportily Stroud Valley cards were given out. One set of parents said that their child goes to a Sportily afterschool club already. Luke and Beth invited young people to come to the gym for nibbles, drinks, glow in the dark bowling, ring toss and a pumpkin slalom. All had great fun."
  • Our TRAC reconnect session is a place for the young people who attended our TRAC summer residential to come together to catch up and continue exploring the Christian Faith. Tim hosted this session last week and shares:
"We had a great time at the TRAC reconnect event. There were some brilliant and real conversations about the Christian faith, what people think and where they're at with it. We ate together, got moving and did some fun challenges too. It was a blessing to be part of."

Please pray for

  • As the days grow shorter and colder, please pray for light and warmth in our communities, that our activities continue to lift spirits, bring people together, and spark hope through the winter months.
