GATHER MOVEMENT SUMMIT 2026

This June, we’re gathering again – not around a programme, but around something deeper: the quiet, costly, transformative work of oneness.
At its heart oneness is a search for relationship – within God himself, between God and humanity and between ourselves. In a world struggling to build healthy relationships, what are the values and practices we need to live by to become a witness for Christ? How can we build long-lasting friendships across a city or town between the church, civic, voluntary sector and other faiths?
In a time where fragmentation can feel normal, the Summit is an invitation to rediscover what it means to be together – across churches, across sectors, across whole places.

What to expect at the Summit:
  • Space for prayerful attentiveness - not just activity
  • Stories of what’s emerging in places across the UK
  • Honest conversations about the challenges and possibilities of unity
  • Time to build and deepen relationships that last beyond the event
  • Practical insight shaped by real experience on the ground

This month we get to know Tani Omideyi who has been involved in Gather Movement and leading in his city of Liverpool for many years.
What's your name, and where do you live?
I’m Tani Omideyi and I live in Liverpool.
If you were a chocolate bar, which one would you be?
I don't eat chocolates. I'm not sweet toothed, I tend to have savory stuff. I only know some that I see on TV adverts from time to time, I think there’s one called Milk Tray or something?

Why are you passionate about unity?
God is passionate about unity. If you read the Bible, there is no way that wouldn't come across very strongly as a challenge to you personally. I'm passionate about unity because God is. And the Lord Jesus emphasized it and prayed it in John 17, and it's emphasized again and again. Jesus said to the disciples that if they're one, that that'll be the strongest message, a sign to the world, that will make the world know that he is the Son of God. Also, unity works. You can see it on a football field, sometimes you find a team that are not the most skilled individuals, but they play as one, and they beat the other team who have stars in them. So, unity works.

What is one thing that excites you about your City?
Liverpool is a vibrant city. Some 40 years ago, when my wife and I moved to Liverpool, it was a city that was on its knees. It was in a terrible state of political instability, serious corruption at the highest level of the city. But it has changed! That's one of the exciting things. Liverpool is changing and is becoming a more just place. For instance, I was looking at some statistics and for years, the city had been in serious decline population-wise. Although there were three university institutions in the City, very few of the students stayed on in the city after graduating. Many moved down South. Now it's changing and it's population is steadily growing, the city is advancing in several other ways.

What's your favourite part about working with Gather Movement?
What attracted me to Gather at the onset was that the leadership had integrity and were passionate about what they were doing, about the vision that God had given them. That has not changed. The vision of Gather is a fantastic one, and it's very simple. It's a vision that longs to see communities and cities and regions transformed. That vision is one that can be embraced by different denominations without any challenge.
That's a vision that I fully embrace, so it's easy for me to get excited and to continue to be passionate about it too. It's for everyone who is a Christian and provides a platform on which we can coalesce and work together. Gather Movement acts as a catalyst to all those different people enabling them to embrace what God is calling them to.

In early March, YouGov informed the Bible Society that the data used in the The Quiet Revival report was flawed. Because of this, they have removed the report. However, that's not the end of the story. The Bible Society has pulled together polls, reports, statistics and testimonies that show what’s really happening around the Bible and Church in England and Wales. Here’s what the report has to tell us.

  1. The culture’s changing – from footballers to philosophers, believers are talking openly about their Christian faith
  2. Religious identities are more important – nominal Christianity’s declining, but younger Christians are far more likely to practise their faith
  3. Young people are a more spiritual generation – widely engaged in spiritual practices and open to faith
  4. There’s a Bible boom – sales have soared, and Google searches for it have overtaken searches for Harry Potter
  5. There’s a rise in conversions – the Catholic Church, the CofE and others have all reported increased numbers of adult converts

We’re delighted to share with you an invite to the 2026 National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast. It will take place on Tuesday 7 July from 7:30am to 9:00am in Westminster Hall in the Houses of Parliament. The aims of the event are to pray for our parliament, government and politics, to build relationships between church leaders and parliamentarians and to reflect upon the relevance of the Christian faith to our public life. The Breakfast is normally attended by the Speaker and Lord Speaker, the leaders of the political parties, MPs, Peers and church leaders from all over the United Kingdom.
The theme this year is ‘Hope for the future’ and the main speaker is Clare Williams-Sarpong. Clare is the founder of Real Questions and an Associate Speaker at OCCA, the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. Music and singing will be led by acclaimed vocalist and composer Ruth Naomi Floyd. After the main breakfast, there will be a programme of seminars as well as a dedicated event for church leaders later in the morning. Please see below for more information.

Two requests:
  1. While it is not a requirement for your booking, we would be very grateful if you could invite your MP to attend with you. We recommend inviting them by email and telephone. An example email invitation can be found here: tinyurl.com/CHLEAD26MP.
  2. A central aim of the event is for MPs and church leaders to attend together. Please could you also send the attached invitation to church leaders in your network? This invitation includes a unique URL for Church Leaders to book with. You could also send them this introductory film. Due to high demand, we regret that Church Leaders can only buy a ticket if their MP confirms that they can attend with them.
